About Us
The Friends of the Otsego County Library are dedicated to enhancing the library's collections and services by providing sustained financial support and educational and cultural opportunities for its members and the community. Friends desire to build a partnership between the library and the community to advocate for quality library services for all of Otsego County's people.
FRIENDS provide vital support for the Otsego County Library by:
- promoting and publicizing the usefulness, resources and needs of the library
- providing support for programs that extend the visibility and importance of the library within the communities it services
- recruiting volunteer time and talents to support and expand Otsego County Library programs and events
- raising funds to improve the resources and services of the Otsego County Library

Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books (BOB) involves 4-6th graders reading ten different books and answering questions in a quiz-bowl-style competition. This year, seven teams are battling it out to become local champions. The top three teams will travel to a regional competition in Houghton Lake to try to keep the trophy in Otsego County. Thanks to the Friends of the Otsego County Library, this program also brings a battle book author to meet the teams and present a program to over 200 local students.
